FTD : FTD Deleted CDs
FTD (Follow That Dream), Sony Music's Official Elvis Presley Collectors label was estabished in 1999 to serve the dedicated Elvis collector and to complement the commercial and artistic level of RCA's retail release schedule by issuing repertoire that is considered of interest to serious Elvis fans and collectors, material that is generally not part of mainstream RCA label releases to the public at large.
There are the original Collectors CD's with CDs ranging from soundboard recorded concerts (Recorded from the mixing desk in mono) to full RCA professionally recorded concerts in stereo and some great alternate take CDs - Such as The Jungle Room Sessions and Memphis Sessions etc, later FTD introduced the Elvis Classic Album Series where they release the original Elvis albums in deluxe 7" size packaging with a booklet and a usually a second CD of out takes from the same period as the recordings on the album. There is also the Movie Soundtrack Series usually released as a single CD but again in deluxe 7" packaging with booklet.
FTD have announced multiple CD and Vinyl deletions. It's Midnight is a soundboard recording of Elvis Presley live at the Las Vegas Hilton, August 24, 1974 - Midnight Show. The show is a solid performance. Better than most of his early '73 performances and sure much better than most of his '76 shows. Elvis is in fine voice, he is relaxed, and the performances are solid. His is in very good humor throughout the show, although his a little acid in some of his jokes, maybe a side effect of his disappointment in have to be back to the old pattern. But the show itself is interesting because he kept the base of the new concert, so all the new songs are here: 'If You Love Me (Let Me Know)', 'It's Midnight', 'If You Talk In Your Sleep', 'Softly...', omitting only 'Promised Land' and 'Good Times Charlie's Got The Blues'. |

Studio B is the sequel to the sensational FTD CD Fame & Fortune and takes us on a journey from Elvis Presley's chart topping year of 1961 (Blue Hawaii etc) to that first taste of movie desperation, 'Roustabout'. There is no doubt that the dynamic force of the 'Elvis Is Back' sessions had been left behind & the smoother sound of the sixties had crept in, but at the same time Elvis' Nashville musicians were the brilliant 'A Team' and his voice had never sounded so beautiful. With a playing time of over an hour, Ernst & Roger have again released an essential purchase. View inside. |

Burbank '68 is the first release from the long awaited FTD 'collectors label' and contains a plethora of unreleased tracks from one of the only parts of Elvis Presley's career that almost every fan and critic agree on: The TV-special filmed and recorded for NBC in June 1968. What we get here are 23 tracks (including two tracks of dialogue) of which no less than 14 are previously unreleased. The parts of the TV-special in focus here are the June 25th so called 'dress rehearsal' and the June 29th, 6 PM 'stand up' show, supplemented with a few studio tracks. |

Elvis : 6363 Sunset Boulevard returns to Elvis' Studio material, giving us alternate versions recorded in March 1972 + 1975 at RCA's Studio C in Hollywood. '6363 Sunset' is a fascinating second look at Elvis Presley’s recording sessions at the RCA Hollywood Studios in March of 1972 and 1975. The first 6 tracks are from the 2 nights in 1972 that produced 'Burning Love' and 'Always on my Mind' and the final 6 tracks focus on the session that produced the Elvis Today album and in the middle, we get 7 tracks from the 'On Tour' concert rehearsal sessions also studio recorded. |

Memphis Sessions is quite clearly one of the best Elvis Presley FTD / Sony CD releases ever! 'Memphis Sessions' represents the first CD from BMG with outtakes and alternative versions from the American Sound studios ever. About time! This fact makes the CD highly valuable even though most of the content is very familiar to most Elvis fans. This CD is higly recommended! |

Starting with 11 dynamic tracks from his crucial 'Elvis Is Back' sessions Fame And Fortune shows that Elvis Presley, of course, had lost none of his edge recording an amazing variety of musical styles. Here we have great Rock n' Roll, sublime ballads, Pop, blues and even a little bit of Gospel. These first tracks are the real highlight of this CD but we also get 8 tracks from 'His Hand in Mine' as well as 8 from his final session before 'Blue Hawaii'. |

Silver Screen Stereo is the follow up to 'Out in Hollywood' but there is much more here. 26 tracks, over 70 minutes, and this time the treat of eavesdropping on Elvis Presley and the band working out the songs and, above all, the BRILLIANT audio quality. The cover is pure 60's and one of FTD's best. Ernst has added the logo 'A new Orthophonic High Fidelity Recording' (which Elvis' early RCA singles used to say). |
