Elvis Classic Albums on CD From FTD

FTD (Follow That Dream), Sony Music's Official Elvis Presley Collectors label. FTD : Elvis Presley Stereo Concert CD's

FTD (Follow That Dream), Sony BMG's Official Elvis Presley Collectors label was estabished in 1999 to serve the dedicated Elvis collector and to complement the commercial and artistic level of RCA's retail release schedule by issuing repertoire that is considered of interest to serious Elvis fans and collectors, material that is generally not part of mainstream RCA label releases to the public at large.

Stereo Recorded Concerts

In this section we have RCA professionally recorded concerts in stereo.

We also have : Soundboard Recorded Concerts

We also have soundboard recordings. These are tape recordings from the concert mixing desk. Most of Elvis' concerts were recorded this way. The tapes were often used to give new band members an idea of previous shows. The concert was recorded at the mixing desk onto cassette tape, usually in mono. While they are in mono and were never intended for release, this is irrelevant to a large degree if the recording is good. And also if Elvis' performance is good. There are some very good soundboards, - a great example is the 1974 concert included with the excellent book, Fashion For A King - and many that are not as good, these are released for collectors that are happy to have as many shows as they can. Generally the later the year the better the sound quality, but the closer to ’77 the worse Elvis' performance is likely to be. We have put the best soundboards in a sub-section. It is well worth trying one. Everyone is different so it is hard to say who will like what.

Prince From Another Planet : 40th Anniversary Madison Square Garden : 2 CD + DVD Set

Prince From Another Planet : 40th Anniversary Madison Square Garden : 2 CD + DVD Set Elvis Presley CDs Elvis Presley DVDs Sony Music release of 'Prince From Another Planet', a Madison Square Garden 40th Anniversary 2 CD / DVD Deluxe Set in 8" x 8" packaging. The two remastered CDs are of the June 10th afternoon and evening shows, both remixed by Michael Brauer [* Info] and a 40 minute DVD with never-before-seen footage of Elvis' performance at the Saturday afternoon show, captured on hand-held camera by a fan, and now acquired by Legacy from that fan decades later for this package. Along with the concert film on the DVD is another video document, the press conference that took place on Friday afternoon before the big weekend. Attended by Colonel Tom Parker and Elvis' father, Vernon Presley, Elvis disarms and wins over the New York press corps with his good-natured demeanor. For example, When asked, for example, 'Which kind of song do you like doing the best?' - Elvis answers, 'I like to mix 'em up. In other words, I like to do a song like 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' or 'American Trilogy', or something.

The original release was rush released and as a consequence did not receive the mastering it deserved. This time Michael Brauer states the sound is awesome and just like being in the Arena with Elvis!

Elvis Presley CD, Book and DVD Reviews Review : Elvis : Hot August Night

Elvis was in fine form on this 'Hot August Night' of the 25th of August 1969, a performance perhaps never to be beaten. For those that only read the summery of reviews, I can be quite clear, this concert is without doubt the best live recording released to-date of Elvis Presley in 1969, and is one of the best concerts Elvis Presley ever performed - both in sound quality and performance! Why? I could say, listen to it and you will agree, but I offer you an interesting fact, it was from this concert that RCA chose to use seven [7] of the tracks to make up the original 12 track 'Elvis In Person' album in 1969. This is 58% of the albums tracks. And this is from the good number of concerts recorded of which several have been released on CD by FTD.

Elvis : All Shook Up FTD CD : Stereo : August 26, 1969 : Midnight Show [Stereo]

Elvis : All Shook Up FTD CD : Stereo : August 26, 1969 : Midnight Show [Stereo] StereoFTD (Follow That Dream), Sony Music's Official Elvis Presley Collectors Label. All Shook Up is a professionally recorded RCA concert featuring Elvis' August 26, 1969 Las Vegas performance (midnight show) and Includes three (3) rare Live Recordings. Unique performances; Runaway, Rubberneckin' and This Is The Story and the laughing version of 'Are You Lonesome Tonight'. [It was actually Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy, was the cause of one of Elvis' most famous recordings, the 'laughing version' of 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?'. It was during Cissy Houston's soprano obbligato on 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?' that Elvis started laughing.] Of the concerts released from this 1969 Vegas season, the sound and performance on All Shook Up HAS to be the best so far! All Shook Up is one concert that truly captures Elvis' magic and is thoroughly recommended! The Dinner show from this same day is available as Live In Vegas from FTD. Elvis at the International, (August 23, 1969) is also currently available, and is another great show.

The improvement in sound and feel of the original releases is remarkable, revealing an unsuspected vitality and energy, and consequently, the enjoyment the album delivers surpasses anything you can anticipate. Includes seven (7) RARE Live Recordings. Elvis : At The International FTD CD [Stereo] : Elvis Presley FTD CD

Elvis : At The International FTD CD [Stereo] : Elvis Presley FTD CD StereoFTD (Follow That Dream), Sony Music's Official Elvis Presley Collectors Label. Elvis At The International was recorded by RCA in Stereo during Elvis Presley's triumphant 1969 engagement (August 23, 1969 - Midnight Show) at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. In August 1969 Elvis Presley was bursting with a new enthusiasm and energy. ‘In The Ghetto’ had just charted #3 in the US and Elvis needed to prove to his first Las Vegas audience that the King could reclaim his crown. This is the first ever complete concert released from 1969, with Elvis In Person being a compilation. There is a lot of ambience thus containing the live feel a concert CD should have. The audience is there with you all the time, without taking away the charm of any instrument or any vocal. A great show in great sound quality is all we can ask for. This is a brilliant CD, containing not only the best live version of ‘Suspicious Minds’ released so far but showcases Elvis Presley in fabulous voice and great humor. This is the 20th FTD release and one of their very best, If you had to choose one Elvis show that you could have witnessed then this, August 23rd Midnight show, would have to be near the top of your list. After hearing this I won’t be playing ‘In Person’ again! Includes five (5) RARE Live Recordings. Unique performances; Memories, Baby What You Want Me To Do, Runaway, Reconsider Baby and What'd I Say.

Elvis : Spring Tours '77 [Stereo] : Elvis Presley FTD CD

Elvis : Spring Tours '77 [Stereo] : Elvis Presley FTD CD StereoFTD (Follow That Dream), Sony Music's Official Elvis Presley Collectors Label. Elvis Spring Tours '77 CD : RCA Records wanted to release a new Elvis album, but they only had six unreleased songs in the can. Obviously, that's not enough songs for an album. They couldn't get Elvis into a recording studio to tape anything else, so they followed him around on tour, hoping he would perform some songs he hadn't previously recorded. It ended up that he played only three 'new' songs during that tour. To save tape, no complete concerts were recorded. Only a few select songs were taped at each show. So what we have here is 23 songs taped at 12 different shows between March 26, 1977 and May 3, 1977. The sound quality is very good. It's among the best sounding Elvis live recordings, strictly from an audio point of view. Of course by the time, Elvis wasn't at his best, so from a performance point of view, it's inferior to older recordings. But for the most part, the performances here are decent, although there is a 'been there, done that' feel to a lot of them. Probably the most interesting recordings here are the undubbed versions of two of the songs that ended up on Elvis' last album (Moody Blue).
The songs are Unchained Melody and Little Darlin'.

This release covers Elvis' engagement at The Las Vegas Hilton in January-February, 1972. RCA did not record entire shows, and several of the new songs Elvis had added to his shows were only recorded once.
