Elvis : New Year's Eve 1976 FTD 2CD : [Audience Recording]

Elvis : New Year's Eve 1976 FTD 2CD : [Audience Recording] This FTD (Follow That Dream), Sony Music's Official Elvis Presley Collectors Label. FTD CD is a double CD-set featuring Elvis Presley's complete concert on New Year's Eve 1976 in Pittsburgh. Important : This is an Audiance recording - NOT a soundboard. The sound quality is both noisy, hollow, and loaded with crowd noises, but this is a historic moment and probably the best quality we are ever going to get.

While Pittsburghers rang in the New Year Friday night in front of their TV sets with Guy Lombardo, 16,409 others Scorned 1977 with Elvis Presley at the Civic Arena. After three opening acts and a lengthy intermission, Presley unded on stage 35 minutes before midnight, but you would rethought the clock had struck 12. He received an ear-deafening ovation punctuated by thousands of blasts from flash bulbs and a patchwork of 'We-Love-You-Elvis' signs hoisted aloft. Presley had perhaps the most captive audience since Johnny Cash played Folsom Prison. And rarely did he lose his iron grip on the crowd during his 90 minutes on stage.

At the stroke of midnight, the house lights went up and Elvis led the crowd in singing 'Auld Lang Syne'. There were some brief huzzahs from the crowd but in a few minutes Presley was back singing. Overall, it was a fine show, though Presley seems to have lost some of the spark that turned his concerts of yesterday into events. He worked hard.

Tucson '76 : 1976 : Elvis Presley FTD CD

Tucson '76 : 1976 : Elvis Presley FTD CD FTD (Follow That Dream), Sony Music's Official Elvis Presley Collectors Label. Tucson '76 is the 6th FTD release and is a soundboard recording of Elvis Presley's concert in Tucson, Arizona on June 1st, 1976. This concert was chosen because Elvis is in very good voice, he's in a good mood.  This concert will surprise many of you. Many of the usual songs from that period are there, but there's also a great rockin' Burning Love (with a long finale), followed by the first surprise of the evening, an excellent version of Help Me Make It Through The Night. After that Elvis asks: 'what do you wanna hear?', and people shout all kinds of song-titles, and Danny Boy is suggested. And then Elvis himself starts doing this song. At first both Elvis and the band seem a little unsure, but they get more and more into the song, and it reaches a beautiful full climax.

Elvis : Chicago Stadium : 1976 : Elvis Presley FTD 2 CD Set [2 Concerts]

Elvis : Chicago Stadium : 1976 : Elvis Presley FTD 2 CD Set [2 Concerts] Bell FTD (Follow That Dream), Sony Music's Official Elvis Presley Collectors Label. Chicago Stadium is a fantastic time capsule of a much healthier, more focused Elvis as he began the final quarter of 1976 with a renewed sense of performing enthusiasm and that excitement comes through clearly both in Elvis' performance as well as the fan's reactions. All Elvis fans should dust off a space of honor on their shelf for Chicago Stadium!! The concert on disc 2 is simply superb and there is one song that sums up the difference in Elvis' performance on these two concerts, that being Early Morning Rain. On Disc 1 Elvis stops John Wilkinson 30 seconds into John's solo [that Elvis sings too], asking John 'can you put it up a key higher ... because I'm not J.D. Sumner ...' However the very next night Elvis nails this song beautifully taking my breath away as they say, and figuratively speaking, the first version takes Elvis' breath away! And this is how I find the two concerts, Disc 2 features HIGH QUALITY SOUND with a BRILLIANT performance. And you are getting here two CDs for the normal price of one! Both shows on Chicago Stadium are taken directly from the RCA soundboard tapes and are in great quality and this double CD set is highly recommended !!!
