Sony Music release of 'Prince From Another Planet', a Madison Square Garden 40th Anniversary 2 CD / DVD Deluxe Set in 8" x 8" packaging. The two remastered CDs are of the June 10th afternoon and evening shows, both remixed by Michael Brauer [* Info] and a 40 minute DVD with never-before-seen footage of Elvis' performance at the Saturday afternoon show, captured on hand-held camera by a fan, and now acquired by Legacy from that fan decades later for this package. Along with the concert film on the DVD is another video document, the press conference that took place on Friday afternoon before the big weekend. Attended by Colonel Tom Parker and Elvis' father, Vernon Presley, Elvis disarms and wins over the New York press corps with his good-natured demeanor. For example, When asked, for example, 'Which kind of song do you like doing the best?' - Elvis answers, 'I like to mix 'em up. In other words, I like to do a song like 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' or 'American Trilogy', or something. Then mix it up and do some rock and roll, some of the hard rock stuff. I'm not the least bit ashamed of 'Hound Dog' or 'Heartbreak Hotel' ...' Rarely is unseen footage of Elvis in concert discovered, so this footage lends historical importance to the package. The film is a revealing portrait of a physically commanding Elvis and his powerhouse TCB Band, background vocalists, and orchestra. Also included is a 48 page booklet with liner notes - a 5000 word essay - by Patti Smith's guitarist Lenny Kaye who attended the June 10th show as young reporter for Rolling Stone Magazine will add a special touch to the set.
The original MSG release was rush released and as a consequence did not receive the mastering it deserved. This time Michael Brauer states that the sound is awesome and just like being in the Arena with Elvis!
Also : 'As Recorded At Madison Square Garden' 2 LP Vinyl Set.

The Wonder Of You features the complete concert from August 13, 1970, it's been mixed from the original 16-track tapes for the first time in its entirety in Stereo by Vic Anesini. Shorn of the intrusive post production dubs, orchestration and background harmonies of the original releases, and given some inspired sound mixing, the songs on this FTD release are a joy to listen to. The improvement in sound and feel of the original releases is remarkable, revealing an unsuspected vitality and energy, and consequently, the enjoyment the album delivers surpasses anything you can anticipate. Elvis As Recorded At Madision Square Garden, was recorded during the evening show on Saturday, June 10. In June 1972. Elvis Presley returned to New York City for his first performances there since his final appearance on Ed Sullivan's 'Talk of the Town' more than 15 years earlier. His shows at Madison Square Garden were, in fact, his first full concerts in New York: during previous visits to the Big Apple, Presley had only performed a few numbers in television studios. Accordingly, Presley's four shows at Madison Square Garden were huge media events. As part of the pre-concert hype, RCA announced that it would release a live album of the concerts one week after the final show. |

I'll Remember You is a single disc 5" soundboard recording of the dinner show from February 3, 1973. This is a Las Vegas engagement that has not previously been covered by FTD, and the release is in line with our policy of releasing at least one show from every Las Vegas/Lake Tahoe season and every tour. As most of you know we unfortunately don’t have soundboard recordings from every show, but we are still trying to find more. With I'll Remember You, FTD finally gives us a brand 'new' show from February 3, 1973 Midnight Show.

Fortunately Ernst delivers not only a brand new show, but obviously from the superior recordings 'available' he picked one with excellent sound - it just as good a sound as the Dinner Show recording. This concert has been a pleasure to repeat listen too. Thus I must recommend I'll Remember You, not really for any content (as it's the same as Aloha From Hawaii) with 'Until its Time' swapped from 'Burning Love', but for the sound quality clear throughout!

Elvis In Concert 1977 : Elvis Presley CD - In June of 1977 Elvis Presley arranged to have one of his concerts recorded and broadcast on CBS network television. The show was also recorded to be released as a live album, the first in many years. It wasn't a special night, it just happened to be the last stop on the first leg of the 1977 tour. |

![Elvis : Spring Tours '77 [Stereo] : Elvis Presley FTD CD](images/cd_ftd_springtours77_sml.jpg) |
Elvis Spring Tours '77 CD : RCA Records wanted to release a new Elvis album, but they only had six unreleased songs in the can. Obviously, that's not enough songs for an album. They couldn't get Elvis into a recording studio to tape anything else, so they followed him around on tour, hoping he would perform some songs he hadn't previously recorded. It ended up that he played only three 'new' songs during that tour. To save tape, no complete concerts were recorded. Only a few select songs were taped at each show. So what we have here is 23 songs taped at 12 different shows between March 26, 1977 and May 3, 1977. The sound quality is very good. It's among the best sounding Elvis live recordings, strictly from an audio point of view. Of course by the time, Elvis wasn't at his best, so from a performance point of view, it's inferior to older recordings. But for the most part, the performances here are decent, although there is a 'been there, done that' feel to a lot of them. Probably the most interesting recordings here are the undubbed versions of two of the songs that ended up on Elvis' last album (Moody Blue). The songs are Unchained Melody and Little Darlin'. |

![Elvis : At The International FTD CD [Stereo] : Elvis Presley FTD CD](images/cd_ftd_elvisattheinternational_sml.jpg) |
Elvis At The International was recorded by RCA in Stereo during Elvis Presley's triumphant 1969 engagement (August 23, 1969 - Midnight Show) at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. In August 1969 Elvis Presley was bursting with a new enthusiasm and energy. ‘In The Ghetto’ had just charted #3 in the US and Elvis needed to prove to his first Las Vegas audience that the King could reclaim his crown. This is the first ever complete concert released from 1969, with Elvis In Person being a compilation. There is a lot of ambience thus containing the live feel a concert CD should have. The audience is there with you all the time, without taking away the charm of any instrument or any vocal. A great show in great sound quality is all we can ask for. This is a brilliant CD, containing not only the best live version of ‘Suspicious Minds’ released so far but showcases Elvis Presley in fabulous voice and great humor. This is the 20th FTD release and one of their very best, If you had to choose one Elvis show that you could have witnessed then this, August 23rd Midnight show, would have to be near the top of your list. After hearing this I won’t be playing ‘In Person’ again! Includes five (5) RARE Live Recordings. Unique performances; Memories, Baby What You Want Me To Do, Runaway, Reconsider Baby and What'd I Say. |

![Elvis : All Shook Up FTD CD : Stereo : August 26, 1969 : Midnight Show [Stereo]](images/cd_all_shook_up_sml.jpg) |
All Shook Up is a professionally recorded RCA concert featuring Elvis' August 26, 1969 Las Vegas performance (midnight show) and Includes three (3) rare Live Recordings. Unique performances; Runaway, Rubberneckin' and This Is The Story and the laughing version of 'Are You Lonesome Tonight'. [It was actually Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy, was the cause of one of Elvis' most famous recordings, the 'laughing version' of 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?'. It was during Cissy Houston's soprano obbligato on 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?' that Elvis started laughing.] Of the concerts released from this 1969 Vegas season, the sound and performance on All Shook Up HAS to be the best so far! All Shook Up is one concert that truly captures Elvis' magic and is thoroughly recommended! The Dinner show from this same day is available as Live In Vegas from FTD. Elvis at the International, (August 23, 1969) is also currently available, and is another great show. |

Dinner At Eight is a sounboard recording of Elvis' dinner show in Las Vegas December 13th, 1975. The tape is different to most of what we call 'soundboards', this concert was recorded on a reel-to reel tape, and not the usual cassette. The show is still in mono though, and there are a few tape problems along the way, but in general it sounds good. |

Takin' Tahoe Tonight is a soundboard recording of Elvis Presley's concert at the 'High Sierra Theatre' at the Sahara Tahoe Hotel, Nevada at 3AM on May 13, 1973. The bonus songs are from the midnight show the same night. Recommended listening. While a few bootlegs do capture Elvis during this period, RCA realised that Elvis was not performing at 'full blast' and until now no concert from this period has ever been released. So this new FTD CD is a real first. |

The Impossible Dream captures Elvis Presley at the start of his fourth Las Vegas season beginning on January 26th 1971 and marks the first time RCA/BMG/FTD have officially released live recordings from this year ... Overall it is a short and satisfying show, with a few songs introduced live for the first time alongside some excellent bonus songs. |

I Found My Thrill is a soundboard concert recorded at the on January 27, 1974 Dinner show at The Las Vegas Hilton and represents the first official representation of Elvis' Winter Jan/Feb 1974 Las Vegas season. Here we find Elvis fresh and with a new repertoire, which surprisingly includes two 1970 standards Sweet Caroline and You've Lost That Loving Feeling as well as Polk Salad Annie and two very special rare performances of Spanish Eyes and Blueberry Hill. Well before this CD ever came out fans were asking for this release and FTD have included as much as possible from this season. |

Big Boss Man represents Elvis' 18th March - 1st April 1975 Las Vegas season. What we get is a full CD (78 minutes) of parts of 3 shows from that season, giving us some rarely performed songs as well as one (almost complete) show from this season. The 3 shows represented are first the 28.3.75 M/S, then 5 songs from 31.3.75 M/S and finally 3 songs from the 22.3.75 M/S. |

It's Midnight is a soundboard recording of Elvis Presley live at the Las Vegas Hilton, August 24, 1974 - Midnight Show. The show is a solid performance. Better than most of his early '73 performances and sure much better than most of his '76 shows. Elvis is in fine voice, he is relaxed, and the performances are solid. His is in very good humor throughout the show, although his a little acid in some of his jokes, maybe a side effect of his disappointment in have to be back to the old pattern. But the show itself is interesting because he kept the base of the new concert, so all the new songs are here: 'If You Love Me (Let Me Know)', 'It's Midnight', 'If You Talk In Your Sleep', 'Softly...', omitting only 'Promised Land' and 'Good Times Charlie's Got The Blues'. |

Summer Festival contains a complete soundboard recording of Elvis' show at the Las Vegas Hilton on August 11, 1972. Plus some bonus tracks. This is for me a REAL pleasure to get a soundboard release from this summer in Las Vegas with enough 'bonus songs' to fill the running time to nearly 74 minutes AND represent Elvis' repertoire during this season. The representation here varies from the good to very good category, with several songs pretty excellent. Therefore even before I listen to the CD, I expected to be in for a treat ... |

Dixieland Rocks will blow you away! The sound is awesome with crisp, clear vocals and Elvis is in fine form, both vocally and in his interplay with the band and the very receptive audience. At this stage of his career (1975) some of his concerts were rushed and lacked a little polish, but not his concerts in Murfeesboro, Tennessee on May 6 and 7. |

Tucson '76 is the 6th FTD release and is a soundboard recording of Elvis Presley's concert in Tucson, Arizona on June 1st, 1976. This concert was chosen because Elvis is in very good voice, he's in a good mood. This concert will surprise many of you. Many of the usual songs from that period are there, but there's also a great rockin' Burning Love (with a long finale), followed by the first surprise of the evening, an excellent version of Help Me Make It Through The Night. After that Elvis asks: 'what do you wanna hear?', and people shout all kinds of song-titles, and Danny Boy is suggested. And then Elvis himself starts doing this song. At first both Elvis and the band seem a little unsure, but they get more and more into the song, and it reaches a beautiful full climax. |

![Nevada Nights : 1974 : Elvis Presley FTD 2 CD Set [2 Concerts]](images/cd_nevada_nights_sml.jpg) |
Nevada Nights is an excellent FTD double delight and a chance for fans to obtain these shows in the best sound. The sound features Elvis sort of somewhat up close, up front sort of between Fort Baxter and the DAE (Diamond Anniversary) sound - listenable and warm to the ear ... This first CD features the famous opening night : August 19, 1974, where Elvis departed from the conventional opening - not starting with Also Sprach Zarathustra or See See Rider - instead opening with Big Boss Man - and including many songs he had not performed live before. |
