Elvis Presley makes television and entertainment history with his Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii - Via Satellite special. Performed at the Honolulu International Center Arena on January 14, 1973, broadcast live at 12:30 AM Hawaiian time, beamed via Globecam Satellite to Australia, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, South Vietnam and other countries. It is seen on a delayed basis in around thirty European countries. A tape of the show will be seen in America on April 4th on NBC. The live broadcast in January attracts 37.8% of the viewers in Japan, 91.8% in the Philippines, 70% in Hong Kong, and 70-80% of the viewers in Korea. The April showing in America will attract 51% of the television viewing audience, and will be seen in more American households than man’s first walk on the moon. In all, it will be seen in about forty countries by one billion to 1.5 billion people. Elvis commissions an American Eagle design for his jumpsuit for this show, his patriotic message to his worldwide audience. Never has one performer held the world’s attention in such a way. Elvis is in top form physically and vocally. This is probably the pinnacle of his superstardom, one of the all-time great moments of his career. Elvis was very, very nervous at first. Nobody else had ever done a satellite show before. He was the very first entertainer, ever, to do a satellite show.

All Shook Up is one concert that truly captures Elvis' magic and is thoroughly recommended!

 The 40th anniversary of the historic one-hour satellite broadcast of Elvis Presley from the Honolulu International Center Arena in January 1973, viewed by over 1.5 billion people worldwide, is now commemorated with the release of 'Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite': 'Legacy Edition'. This deluxe double-CD package will be released on March 22, 2013, through RCA/Legacy, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. 'Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite: Legacy Edition' marks the first time that both shows performed by Elvis, as released separately in 1973 (the original double-LP 'Aloha From Hawaii via Satellite') and 1988 (the CD 'The Alternate Aloha'), have been coupled together in one package.  Takin' Tahoe Tonight is a soundboard recording of Elvis Presley's concert at the 'High Sierra Theatre' at the Sahara Tahoe Hotel, Nevada at 3AM on May 13, 1973. The bonus songs are from the midnight show the same night. Recommended listening. While a few bootlegs do capture Elvis during this period, RCA realised that Elvis was not performing at 'full blast' and until now no concert from this period has ever been released. So this new FTD CD is a real first. |

I'll Remember You is a single disc 5" soundboard recording of the dinner show from February 3, 1973. This is a Las Vegas engagement that has not previously been covered by FTD, and the release is in line with our policy of releasing at least one show from every Las Vegas/Lake Tahoe season and every tour. As most of you know we unfortunately don’t have soundboard recordings from every show, but we are still trying to find more. With I'll Remember You, FTD finally gives us a brand 'new' show from February 3, 1973 Midnight Show.

Fortunately Ernst delivers not only a brand new show, but obviously from the superior recordings 'available' he picked one with excellent sound - it just as good a sound as the Dinner Show recording. This concert has been a pleasure to repeat listen too. Thus I must recommend I'll Remember You, not really for any content (as it's the same as Aloha From Hawaii) with 'Until its Time' swapped from 'Burning Love', but for the sound quality clear throughout!

FTD 5" digi pack release, 'From Hawaii To Las Vegas' of an originally recorded soundboard recording of Elvis' January 25, 1973 Las Vegas dress rehearsal for his January/February 1973 season at The Las Vegas Hilton. The rough audio quality is more than compensated by the fascinating insight into how Elvis worked in order to create his shows. With little talk, and a lot of music, we are invited to a first row presentation of what he had in mind, and yet he decided to change the repertoire the very next day. Among the many songs is 'Separate Ways' - rehearsed with and without the orchestra - a song that Elvis chose to never perform in public. So a very interesting release, one the likes of we have not had before. |
