Shop Elvis Australia - Region Coding Explained

Although most people these days have multi-zone/region DVD players not all do so here we expalin what this means. You can have your DVD player converted to be region free at any time but it is best to make sure of this when buying a new DVD player. And we recommend you do so!

There are six world Regions for DVD. We mark each DVD in our shop that is region coded, for example ;

Region 4 Australia is Region 4 Region 1 USA is Region 1 - Not all DVDs are encoded, some are made without a restriction and are refered to as either region 0 or Region Free. These are marked in our shop.

If your DVD player is restricted to a certain region you can only buy DVDs encoded for that region and/or region 0/Region Free DVDs.

You also need to remember the picture format of the DVD. There are two main picture formats, PAL for Australia, Europe and most of the world and then there is NTSC for the USA, Canada and Japan.

Also read about PAL and NTSC.

Please check the map below to make sure our DVD's will be able to play on your DVD machine. Please check your DVD manual, or with the manufacturer, if in doubt.
