Elvis Sings The Wonderful World Of Christmas was released along with Promised Land, both in the 7" classic album series in December 2011 along with a new book, A Moment In Time : 4 Days in ‘56, this one is something special, from author and producer Michael Rose [Elvis: Return to Tupelo DVD], a most stunning glimpse of Elvis' life in 1956. Through literally hundreds of photos : many previously unpublished : we get to join Elvis at his show in Detroit on May 25. We stay with the tour for two more days in Columbus and Dayton and finally arrive in Memphis on May 28.

Elvis Presley's excellent first Christmas album, Elvis' Christmas Album, looms so large in the public psyche that it is hard to fairly judge this album but taken on its own terms, Elvis Sings The Wonderful World Of Christmas is a fine collection that would be a welcome addition to any Elvis fan's stocking.

Elvis Sings The Wonderful World Of Christmas includes a number of seasonal standards ('O Come, All Ye Faithful', 'The First Noel', and 'Winter Wonderland') as well as such newer songs as 'On a Snowy Christmas Night' and the title track. The highlights of the album are a gritty six : minute version of Charles Brown's hit 'Merry Christmas Baby' and the version of 'Blue Christmas' Elvis performed on his comeback television special.
